David Pollack (born David M. Pollack on June 19, 1982) is a retired American football linebacker (first-round choice in the 2005 NFL Draft) who was born and raised in New Brunswick, New Jersey. 2005 was the rookie season for Pollack. He was in reserve for the Bengal’s sixth game. He first started playing as a linebacker. Due to his sprained knees, he was unable to play two games. At the end of the season, he was still having great success with 4.5 sacks and 22 tackles, and six assists for a total of 28.
He started his first game with the Bengals in 2006 in his second NFL season. On September 17, 2006, in his game with Cleveland Browns, he suffered from broken sixth cervical vertebrae on a first-quarter tackle on running back Reuben Droughns. He had to go through surgery to fuse two vertebrae and wear a halo brace for three long months. His injury turned out to be career-ending.
However, on January 7, 2007, news channel ESPN announced that he would be able to play again and start his career again. On April 22, 2008, Bengal’s coach announced that he was not comfortable with his medical condition and wanted to retire. After retirement, he opened his own company FanBan which dealt with sports banners that featured Sports photographs and football team logos.
In 2008, Pollack started as a sports talk host on the channel Atlanta‘s 790. Also, in 2008 he started studio work with CBS’s College Football Team coverage. He also works as a football analyst for ESPN.
