Charlie Rose: Early Years
Charlie Rose attended Henderson High School and Duke University. He wanted to graduate earlier in his pre-medical training; however, Charlie Rose became interested in politics when he articled in Everet Jordan’s (North Carolina Senator) office.
In 1964, Rose obtained a bachelor’s degree in history. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of the Kappa Alpha Order in Duke. He received a Doctor of Laws degree from Duke University School of Law in 1968. While attending Duke, Rose met his delectable wife, Mary.

Charlie Rose’s career has been successful. Once, he worked for the BBC as a freelancer. While working at one of New York’s banks in 1972, Rose obtained a weekend job as a reporter for WPIX-TV.
In 1974, he began to become famous after Bill Moyers hired him as editor-in-chief who will be in charge of the Bill Moyers Journal. From 1984 to 1990, Rose worked for CBS News as the presenter of CBS Nightwatch (the network’s first late evening news program), which most often featured Rose in one-on-one interviews with prominent personalities in a format similar to her later PBS program.
Charles Mansion’s interview with Rose on Nightwatch won an Emmy Award in 1987. Later, Charlie left CBS in 1990 to become a personality presenter (a popular show produced by Fox TV), but six weeks after the production began, it flopped.
The premiere of Charlie Rose took place on September 30, 1991, at PBS Thirteen/WNET. The issue has been syndicated nationally on PBS since January 1993.
Subsequently, Rose moved the show to a studio owned by Bloomberg LP. The new studio has given way to high-definition video via remote satellite.
