Her full name is Savannah Guthrie, and she was born on the 27th of December 1971 to Charles and Nancy Guthrie at Melbourne, Australia. Her father was a mining engineer who died when she was sixteen; her mother was a home keeper.

Savannah Gruthie was named after her matriarch, and she had two siblings named Annie and Camron Gruthie. When she was two, her family relocated to Tucson, Arizona State.

She had an active childhood as she was involved in sports and could also play the piano.
