Ekiti 2022: PDP reacts to reported ‘threat’ by Fayose to join APC

Ahead of the 2022 Governorship election in Ekiti state, the state Local Government Chairmen of Peoples Democratic Party PDP have reacted to the reported threat by former Governor Ayodele Fayose to leave the party for the All Progressive Congress APC.

The chairmen declared that Fayose is not bothered by what was termed as petty blackmail.

This is coming after the alleged threat by Fayose to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) if his preferred candidate, Bisi Kolawole is not picked as the governorship flagbearer.

Michael Abiodun, Chairman of PDP LG Chairmen in a statement said it is PDP or nothing for Fayose.

“For supporting Bisi Kolawole as PDP governorship candidate, he has no apologies. This is more so that opponents of Bisi Kolawole also know that he is the aspirant to beat.

“For Fayose, PDP remains the bigger picture that must be protected. Our leader is used to these armchair politics of image smearing, he has never been bothered”, he said.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has fixed June 18, 2022 for the gubernatorial election in Ekiti.

Former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, has singled out Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for praise, after they saw off Spain in Tuesday’s Euro 2020 semi-final.

The Azzurris won 4-2 over La Roja on penalties at the Wembley Stadium.

The game was tied 1-1 after extra-time and both teams had to be separated by spot kicks.

Donnarumma saved Morata’s effort after Dani Olmo had sent his strike over the crossbar.

“During the penalty shootout – which is a game of chance, we must give credit to the goalkeeper.

“He was immense and his big frame – which is like that of two goalkeepers in the goalpost - made it difficult [for Spain].
