Breaking! Sound Sultan dies of cancer at 44

Popular Nigerian rapper, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan has died of Angioimmunoblastic T- Cell Lymphoma in the United States of America.

The 44 years old Jagbajantis crooner, lost it to his battle with Angioimmunoblastic T- Cell Lymphoma.

According to information making rounds, the artist who is famous for his song Mathematics had already commenced chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in USA before he passed on today, Sunday, July 11.

 Sound Sultan’s career in show business started in the 1990s, when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions.

 By 1999, he had won numerous local talent-hunt shows. He released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000, which was a hit in Nigeria.
 After independently releasing other singles and featuring in hit songs of other artists, he was signed by Kennis Music.
 Sound Sultan began a working relationship with Wyclef Jean when featured alongside 2face Idibia and Faze on “Proud to be African” from Wyclef’s Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101 album.
 In 2012, it was announced that Sound Sultan was made a UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career.
 In 2015, Sound Sultan released the rap single “Remember” after a long absence from the music scene.

His manager, Efe Omorogbe announced the news of his passing.

D’Tigers shock USA in pre-Olympics basketball friendly

Nigeria shocked their USA counterparts 90-87 in a pre-Olympic basketball friendly on Saturday night.

The game was played in Las Vegas, Nevada.

D'Tiger, with six NBA players and head coach Mike Brown in charge, became the first African nation to beat the Americans.

It is the first of five tune-up games for USA before the Olympics in Tokyo.

They were without three players still active in the NBA Finals.

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant led the Americans with 17 points.

Nigeria was led by Gabe Vincent with 21 points.

“I’m kind of glad it happened,” USA head coach Gregg Popovich said.

Arteta promotes Arthur Okonkwo to Arsenal first-team

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has promoted Arthur Okonkwo to the first team.

This comes after the 19-year-old goalkeeper signed a long-term contract with the Gunners.

Okonkwo joined the club as an under-9 player before he was signed as a scholar in July 2018.

In the 2020/2021 campaign, he trained with the first team regularly and also travelled with the squad as a third choice goalkeeper.

Copa America final: Messi finally wins international trophy as Argentina beat Brazil

Lionel Messi has landed his first trophy with Argentina, after they beat Brazil in the Copa America final on Saturday.

Angel Di Maria's 22nd minute strike proved to be decisive, as they won 1-0 at the Maracana.

The victory ended Argentina’s 28-year wait for a major trophy, and also ended Brazil’s unbeaten home record that stretched back more than 2,500 days.

“It’s a great title, especially for our people. The fans support the team unconditionally. I think they can identify with this team that never gives in,” said Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni.

It was the first time in six editions playing at home that Brazil had failed to lift the trophy.
