Best Graduating Babcock University student, Omolola Okunola flaunts her numerous awards

Best graduating student from the University of Babcock, Omolola Okunola has taken to social media to show off her awards.

Omolola  Okunola graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average, CGPA of 4.91 in Mass Communication (Public Relations and Advertising) from the popular private Univeristy.

Babcock University is a private Christian co-educational Nigerian university owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria. The university is located at Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria equidistant between Ibadan and Lagos.

In 2017, the university had its first set of graduates from the Ben Carson School of Medicine.

Babcock University was named after an American missionary by the name of David C. Babcock, who pioneered the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria in 1914. He was based in Erunmu in Oyo State, Nigeria.

The university was established as the Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) in 1959, initially with seven students; who were hosted at the home of Chief Olufemi Okulaja. In 1975, it changed its name to Adventist Seminary of West Africa (ASWA).

The university was officially inaugurated on April 20, 1999.

Eid-el-Kabir: Nigerian govt declares Tuesday, Wednesday public holiday

The federal government has declared Tuesday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 21 as public holidays, to mark the 2021 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, announced this in a statement on Thursday.

He congratulated all Muslim faithful and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the celebration.

Aregbesola urged Muslim to allow the lessons of the celebration reflect in their day-to-day activities.

He further called on Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country, considering the challenges of insecurity we face at the moment.

Negativity won’t break me – Bukayo Saka

England youngster, Bukayo Saka, has admitted he expected to be targeted by racists on social media following his penalty miss in the Euro 2020 final.

However, he insists the negativity will not "break" him.

The 19-year-old saw his spot-kick saved as Italy won at Wembley on Sunday.

Saka was then sent sickening messages along with team-mates Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.
