The British Government, in a recent statement, has cleared the air on the report linking the country with the arrest of the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
This was made public by Dean Hurlock, a spokesperson of the British High Commission, on Tuesday as he declared that Kanu was neither arrested nor extradited from the UK.
“We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes,” TheCable quoted him.
This is coming hours after the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, had disclosed on Tuesday that Kanu was arrested on Sunday.
Malami stressed that Kanu was arrested through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.
Kanu, who holds dual citizenship, was reported to have been in the UK, where he was staying since his escape from Nigeria in 2017.
There are other claims that he was arrested in an African country.
