APC chairman removed over alleged anti-party activities


Nwokedi Ugwoke, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward 7, Igbo Eze North LGA, has been removed from office over alleged anti-party activities.

Nduka Obeta has already been sworn into office Ugwoke’s replacement.

Swearing in the new caretaker chairman, the Igbo-Eze Caretaker Committee chairman, Mr. Desmond Ayogu, accused Ugwoke of insubordination and gross disloyalty to the party.

He said the former chairman had been calling illegal local government chapter meetings, purporting himself to be the chairman of the party.

He also accused him of refusing to attend local government party meetings and participating in the activities of another political party.

In his remarks, the new chairman, Obeta promised to be loyal to constituted authorities and to uphold the party’s constitution in all his dealings.

He thanked the party in the ward for their confidence in him and assured the party members that he would not disappoint them.

MURIC asks National Assembly to reverse ‘Christianization’ of Nigeria by Britain

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has demanded that the National Assembly reverse the "Christianization" of Nigeria by Britain.

This was contained in a statement signed by the group's Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola.

He appealed to the lawmakers, to take "a kind look" at the plight of Nigerian Muslims.

Noting that Islam has been in the country before the 11th century, Akintola posited that some policies in the country favour Christians.

"British colonial masters who were essentially Christians came in the 19th century (1842) and subjected the Muslims to an environment which is totally alien to their faith", he asserted.
