An announcement for the continuation of the Ramadan fasting exercise was made minutes ago after astronomers concluded there is no sight of the crescent moon to determine the day of Eid-l-Fitr.
Astronomers positioned at different locations in Saudi Arabia, including Sumair and Tumair, to achieve these findings.
“The Crescent for the month of Shawwal 1442 was NOT SEEN today; subsequently #EidUlFitr will be on Thursday, May 13 2021,” Haramain Sharifain announced in a tweet moments ago.
Also, in a press release issued by Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, there has been no proven report of the crescent of Shawwal, 1442AH.
Deputy secretary-general to the organisation, Prof. Salisu Shehu, prayed for the Muslim ummah to celebrate a blissful and peaceful Eid on Thursday, May 13, 2021.
The extension came after the Federal Government of Nigeria declared Wednesday and Thursday as Eid-l-Fitr break.
