Mimi Movie review: Star studded, under performance

Mimi The Movie centres on old and tiring plot of a spoilt and unyielding rich kid getting sent off to the slum to be able to appreciate wealth by seeing how the other half strives to survive.

Directed by journalist turned filmmaker, Samuel Olatunji, Mimi which stars Bianca Oguwanne as the titular character (the spoilt rich kid that needs to be taught a lesson) also features Ireti Doyle, Ali Baba, Lizzy Jay,  Lateef Adedimeji. Afeez Oyetoro, Bimbo Akintola, Deyemi Okanlawon, Toyin Abraham, Jide Kosoko, Ufuoma McDermott, and more.

No doubt star-studded but this was part of the flaw, as majority of the top stars only played minor roles (Waka Pass).

Aside the fact that we are tired of the  Rich Spoilt kid in a Ghetto, the movie would have made an impression if the acting was superb.

The scenes were more of cut and join; while trying to understand what could have transpired that led to one situation, another more confusing scene follows.

The speed at which Mimi adjusted to Ghetto life, became a cheer leader, freedom fighter, caring daughter and sibling shocked us all. Within one week, someone that doesn’t know how to lift a pin, could suddenly cook, and do all sorts.

Mimi the movie has just one story line which is focused at making a spoilt rich kid feel the other side of life, aside that, nothing else to intrigue you in the movie.

Poor locations, poor roles interpretations, weak script, boring scenes, Mimi would have done better considering the number of top actors it featured.

Before going to see Mimi; if you really want to, please go with someone or something that would distract you from dozing off.

For Mimi the movie, it is 3/10.
