Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has reacted to the details of the CCTV footage of alleged molestation involving Yoruba actor Baba Ijesha and a 14-year-old girl.
The Lagos State Police Command had ordered that the suspect be released because there is no defilement case against him, and the court cannot sit due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria.
Reacting to the statement, Ruth Kadiri, in a post shared on her Instagram page, stated that the CCTV footage only showed Baba Ijesha touching the victim’s body. Still, it never showed him having any sexual intercourse with the girl, who also confirmed it.
According to Ruth Kadiri, the police decision to release Baba Ijesha on claimes that the rape case happened seven years ago proves that children have no right in Nigeria.
She added that some of the people in power are paedophile as she urged parents and guardians to keep their young ones safe.
She wrote: “The mother complained that her child was at the age of seven when she was defiled and the child pointed at Baba Ijesha. But the case was not reported until she was 14 years and under the law, the case has become statute-barred”.
“Regarding the new case, the CCTV footage has been assessed and nowhere was in it captured that Baba Ijesha defiled her. The footage only showed him touching the victim’s body but it never showed him having any sexual intercourse with the girl. This girl also confirmed the same thing”.
In Nigeria, children have no rights, there are no laws guiding them. This is no place to raise your kids. Even the people in power, some of them are pedophiles . Keep your young ones safe. Be guarded.
