Former Newcastle United boss, Graeme Souness has identified the current Manchester United squad as the best in Premier League history.
He said that City manager, Pep Guardiola is parading an ‘incredible’ array of players.
Manchester City were surprisingly defeated by Leeds United at the Etihad on Saturday, losing 2-1 in the process but they still maintain a strong hold on the Premier League title.
City are 14 points above second placed Manchester United with seven games remaining in the Premier League although United have two games in hand.
Pep Guardiola’s side can still win all four trophies this season having fired themselves Into the League Cup final and are still involved in the Champions League and FA Cup.
And Souness, a former Liverpool boss, also reckons that Chelsea have the second best squad in the league at the moment.
He, however, insisted that City are simply operating on another level.
“They’re in a great position,” Souness told Sky Sports of Chelsea. When you look at the team that started for Chelsea today and the subs.
“I would put Chelsea in having the 2nd best squad in the Premier League behind Manchester City.
“City have got an incredible squad, I would go as far to say it’s the best squad I’ve ever seen in English football.”
