Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said Kieran Tierney will miss the rest of this season due to injury.
Tierney was forced off with a knee problem during the Gunners’ 3-0 loss against Liverpool two weeks ago.
He was replaced by Granit Xhaka at left-back, as Arsenal defeated Sheffield United 3-0 victory yesterday.
“He [Xhaka] had a specific role today for the game because we believed they were going to try to do something, and he had the right qualities to develop that role,” Arteta said at his post-match press conference after Arsenal’s win over Sheffield on Sunday.
“It’s a joy to work with him because you would ask him to play as a centre forward, and he would say, ‘yeah, yeah, I will do my best’. That is the player you want.
“Today, he had a really strong performance, and it gives another option.
He added, “Kieran is out, probably for the season, so we need different options in that position, and he [Xhaka] can be one of those.”
