EPL: How Alex Ferguson lambasted me – Solskjaer

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has recalled how former Red Devils boss, Sir Alex Ferguson once lambasted him.

He said his former manager attacked him after he got sent off during a game against Newcastle back in 1998 Ferguson and his men were fighting to win the league title with Arsenal and every point mattered as the campaign neared its conclusion.

Newcastle were said to have have come to Old Trafford at that seeking to go home with a point while United threw bodies forward in search of a goal.

Solskjaer was shown a straight red card after he stopped Newcastle’s Rob Lee’s goal-bound move and salvaged a point for his side, an action that earned the Norwegian him a standing ovation from the United faithful as he left the field.

But his manager, Ferguson was not quite as impressed with his decision to foul the player and get a red card.
“I think every manager has certain values,” Solskjaer, who is the current manager at Old Trafford, said.

“When I got sent off against Newcastle many years ago, many, many moons ago, I thought I did the right thing for the club and the team.

“And Sir Alex absolutely lambasted me after the game, called me into his office, ‘we don’t win that way at Man Utd’, and I’ve lived by that ever since.”
