Nollywood actor Femi Branch has reacted to reports that embattled Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, arrested over allegations of molesting a 14-year-old girl, may be released from custody on Friday, April 30.
Kemifilani had reported that a senior officer of the Lagos State Police Command confirmed to PUNCH Metro that a directive had been issued to release Baba Ijesha from its custody within the next 24 hours.
This, according to the police, is due to the ongoing strike by members of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, which has made it impossible for the courts to sit, and the suspect could not be detained indefinitely without trial.
In a video shared on Instagram, Femi Branch questioned why Baba Ijesha would be released when there is clear evidence that he sexually assaulted the minor.
Femi Branch added that the police also planned to release the suspect because the rape case happened 7 years ago and was not reported to the police.
Also, the CCTV footage is not a clear case of assault as Baba Ijeshua was only captured touching the minor and there is no case of defilement.
