The Supreme Court has upheld the criminal breach of trust charged against jailed ex-governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye.
Dariye filed the suit praying the Supreme Court to upturn the November 16, 2018 judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which convicted him and sentenced him to 10 years for diverting public funds estimated at N1.162 billion while he was the Governor of Plateau.
Dariye had filed a suit to the apex court to undo the ruling of the Appeal Court, who convicted him on November 16, 2018, of diverting public funds amounting up to N1.162 billion while he was Governor of Plateau state, sentencing him to 10 years imprisonment.
The Supreme court, in its ruling, upheld the appeal court’s judgment following the conviction of the offense of the criminal breach of trust.
However, the apex court freed Dariye on the charges of misappropriation of public funds, which carries a two-year jail term punishment.
