Supreme Court upholds Akufo-Addo’s election


The Supreme Court in Ghana has unanimously upheld the victory of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the December 7, 2020 poll.

A seven-member panel dismissed the petition filed by John Dramani Mahama.

Mahama was the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition.

Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, in his judgment, declared that the Mahama's petition had no merit.

“We therefore have no reason to order a re-run as pleaded by the petitioner (Mahama).

"We accordingly dismiss the petition as having no merit,” the Chief Justice ruled.

WhatsApp introduces voice and video calls to the app’s desktop version

WhatsApp, on Thursday, said it is introducing voice and video calling features to its app’s desktop to make it easy for users to enjoy better communication.

WhatsApp made this known in a statement where it explained the effectiveness and reasons behind introducing the new features to the app's desktop version.

The statement reads, “We’re excited to announce that private and secure one-to-one voice and video calls are now available on WhatsApp’s desktop app.

“Throughout the last year, we’ve seen significant increases in people calling one another on WhatsApp, often for long conversations.

“Last New Year’s Eve, we broke the record for the most calls ever made in a single day with 1.4 billion voice and video calls.
