2019 Presidential Election: We have proof that Atiku defeated Buhari – Bala Mohammed

Bala Mohammed

Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, has affirmed that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, won the 2019 presidential elections.

Contrary to the Independent National Electoral Commissions’ declaration of the All Progressive Candidate, APC candidate President Muhammed Buhari as the winner of the elections, Bala has alleged that fraudulent acts by the EFCC during the election made his party lost the election.

It will be recalled that the incumbent President, Buhari, according to INEC, defeated his biggest contender, the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, to run a second term as president.

Following the loss, PDP went to court to challenge the result of INEC; the tribunal upheld the victory of the incumbent president, but the unsatisfied opposition party took the case to the Supreme court.

The apex still upheld the electoral umpires’ result of the election, allowing Buhari to run a second term as president.

However, Bala, in a recent interview with newsmen, disclosed that Nigeria is oblivion to the incidents that transpire in the last general elections, but his party, PDP, has learned its lessons.

“The general impression within the party and within the country is that we actually won the election and that we lost to a lot of fraud, to a lot of manipulations that were perpetrated by either the electoral umpire or by the security operatives.

“We do not want to be the whipping boys; we have looked inward to see what prevented us from winning the election. We have a lot of evidence, which we tendered but was not accepted.

“The issue now is that we know we are all Nigerians. We know the nook and cranny of Nigeria. We know what happened in 2019,” he said.
