The movie “2 Weeks in Lagos” is not your regular kind of film, but it is easily relatable to all living in Lagos and similar cities.
This unusual love story focused in Lagos, Nigeria, features prominent actors like Mawuli Gavor, Beverly Naya, Joke Silva, Jide Kosoko, Toyin Abraham, Shaffy Bello, Tina Mba, and many more.
“2 Weeks in Lagos” captures the excitement and vibrancy of everyday life in Lagos and reflects the complexity of life in Lagos, a dynamic city where anything is possible in 2 Weeks.
It tells the story of the Love affair of Ejikeme (Mawuli Gavor) and Lola (Beverly Naya). Their lives collide when Ejikeme, an investment banker, comes home from the United States to invest in Nigerian businesses. It is love at first sight for them and as they embark on a journey of discovering this new love.
The love connection between Ejikeme and Lola is so real and admirable, leaving the movie viewers mushy.
Like the duo, the rest of the characters delivered their roles professionally, kudos to the director.
However, it has become typical of Nigerian filmmakers to jam pack the screen with lots of not so funny characters, scenes with the motive of comic relief, but it is becoming so cliché and boring.
Especially that of Toyin Abraham, it’s high time she started rejecting such demeaning roles, Razz, illiterate, unpolished, and what have you.
Aside from these, 2 Weeks In Lagos is not bad, after all. It is worth the ticket, popcorn, and soda!
