One of the representatives of the Lagos State Panel of Inquiry, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, representing the civil society in the panel set up to investigate the alleged killing of #EndSARS protesters by some unidentified soldiers, has said the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatude Fashola, has not handed the camera he found on the Lekki toll gate to the panel.
While touring the scene of the alleged Lekki toll gate massacre on the 25th of October, 2020, with some ministers and governors from the South-West, Fashola found a camera at the scene of the incident.
The Minister handed the cameras over to the sitting Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after picking the camera with a handkerchief.
Fashola, when handing the camera over to Sanwo-Olu, said, “I think this will help with the ongoing investigations into the shootings at the Lekki Toll Gate. It requires forensic analysis and could be used in the investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the shootings at the Toll Gate, I believe.”
Adegboruwa said after finding the camera, the Governor is yet to hand the camera over to the panel.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said this in his dissenting letter, refusing the Lekki Concession Company from taking over the plaza on insurance claims and maintenance check.
The copy of the dissenting letter made available to journalists by Adegboruwa confirms that the Lagos State Government and the Chief Pathologist of the state have not appeared before the panel to give their testimony.
“I think this will help with the ongoing investigations into the shootings at the Lekki Toll Gate. It requires forensic analysis and could be used in the investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the shootings at the Toll Gate, I believe,” Adegboruwa says.
“Allegations have been made against the company responsible for the Bill Boards at the Admiralty Toll Plaza, as to who did and why electricity was switched off on 20th October 2020, prior to the invasion by the Army. The company is yet to appear before the Panel.
“Summons have been issued for the appearance and testimony of the Chief Pathologist of Lagos State, to appear and to tender autopsy reports of deaths and CCTV footages of all mortuaries in Lagos State, from 20th October 2020. They are yet to appear before the Panel.” the SAN argues.
