Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported that Osun State has recorded a hiked number of 98 new cases of the novel virus, COVID-19, in one day.
The 98 reported cases by the NCDC is Osun’s highest daily case even since the first reported case 46 weeks ago.
Osun state, according to NCDC, is the third-highest infected state in the country, bringing the total case of Nigeria’s new COVID-19 case to 1794.
Twenty-two out of the thirty-six states of the federation that has a recorded case of COVID-19 includes; Lagos (535), Plateau (183), Akwa Ibom (85), FCT (83), Ondo (77), Nasarawa (72), Edo (69), Oyo (63), Rivers (52), Taraba (48), Ogun (44), Borno(31), Kwara (31), Ekiti (30), Benue (25), Kano (21), Niger (21), Kaduna (18), Abia (15), Delta (10), Bayelsa (7) and Zamfara (6).
NCDC had reported that 111,636 infected persons had been discharged, and 1.641 deaths have been recorded from the total number of 137,654 confirmed cases in the country.
In the other news, the World Health Organisation, WHO has disqualified Nigeria from bidding for the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccines because it does not meet with the 70-degree storage room temperature capacity outlined by the organization
Nigeria was among the four selected countries to bid for the vaccine out of the 13 African countries that applied.
