The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has taken President Muhammadu Buhari to court, for extending the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu.
NBA filed the suit before a Lagos High Court on Friday.
Adamu attained the retirement age in February after reaching 35 years in service, but Buhari has extended his tenure.
However, the Public Interest Litigation Committee of the NBA sought a court order asking Adamu to vacate office.
The lawyers argued that Adamu’s continuous stay in office is in contravention of the provisions of section 215(1)(a) of the constitution.
The NBA sought an order “setting aside the purported elongation of the tenure” of the IGP.

Nigerian singer, Kelly Hansome has criticized the newly released Gelato's live performance video by daughter of billionaire business mogul, Femi Otedola popularly known as DJ Cuppy.
The singer took to his Instagram page on Friday, February 12, 2020, where he shared the newly released single 'Gelato' calling it rubbish. Kelly Hansome also stated that the song is mocking Nigerian music. He further went on to say, music isn't for everyone.
