A 36-year-old Nigerian woman was prosecuted in the United Kingdom for murdering her four-year-old son, a court has heard.
Oluwakemi Badare is charged with murdering Kingswealth Bayode by reportedly drowning him in a bath at her home in Plumstead, South-East London. The child was officially discovered on Sunday, December 27, “lifeless.”
Badare, who is now being detained at Bronzefield Jail, was represented by a lawyer at last week’s Old Bailey administrative hearing for 10 minutes.
The court was notified that shortly before 8 a.m. on Sunday, emergency services were called to the address in Invermere Place where the boy was found dead.
Also at scene, Badare was arrested and taken into custody prior to being charged. She eventually appeared on Monday at Bromley Magistrates’ Court and was placed in custody.
A post mortem was later carried out a couple of days ago on the boy’s corpse.
On March 17, Judge Anthony Leonard QC identified the case for a plea hearing.
