FIFA clears six new players to represent Super Eagles

FIFA has given the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) approval for six players with dual nationality to switch allegiance to the Super Eagles.

An official of the NFF told that out of eight players that applied for the switch, six have been given the all clear.

“Six of the eight players who applied for a switch have been given the go ahead by FIFA.

"The other two will hopefully get their own soon but before then we have forwarded the names to Gernot Rohr. He has the final say,” he said.

When pressed further to reveal the names of the players, he added: “We don’t want fans to put the coach under pressure so giving out the names won’t be appropriate

Chief Ayo Adebanjo, a leader of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has claimed that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, is afraid to speak on the Fulani herdsmen crisis in parts of the South-West region, because he does not want to offend the President Muhammadu Buhari.

Adebanjo stated this while speaking on The Roundtable.

According to him, Tinubu has not condemned the attacks by Fulani herdsmen on the Yoruba people, because of his presidential ambition in 2023.

The Afenifere chieftain said Tinubu believes that Buhari will help him become the next president of the country.

Arsenal sign Odegaard from Real Madrid


Arsenal have officially announced the arrival of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid on a six-month loan deal.

Odegaard, 22, will provide Mikel Arteta's team with creativity, following the departure of Mesut Ozil.

The Norwegian had asked to leave the Santiago Bernabeu in January due to a lack of first-team minutes so far this season.

He has played only seven times in La Liga and is yet to complete 90 minutes for Madrid since returning from last season's loan spell at Real Sociedad.

Sociedad had been linked with a move to take Odegaard back this month but a return became unlikely once Arsenal entered the race to sign him.
