The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, has said that road construction in the country is carried out based on universal global standard, a statement that has not gone down well with Nigerians.

He said this while speaking on Tuesday in Abuja on the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari administration in the transport sector.

“I think we don’t have our standards, roads are constructed to a universal global standard and those standards are not made by Nigeria, they are uniform standards. You can have a minimum and a maximum, in many cases we have reached some maximum because of the quality of finishing they have applied,’’ he said.

As expected many Nigerians have taken to social media to the Minister.

One Kunle Akungbite wrote “Whatever this man is smoking, i want three packs of it. I am sure he left his brain where he picked the camera. Ozuor”

One Sammie wrote “Lmao what are these people smoking? What’s going on in the ruling class? I’m legit confused because which road is he talking about?”

One Becca wrote “This man will just gather more curses and hatred for himself! Has anyone passed ijebu ode road recently?!!! Fashola don’t incure the wrath of God o”

One Attorney Mudi wrote “These guys are lunatics. We are dealing with a set of people who have shown that they do not GIVE A DAMN! I mean, what and who can do anything? I believe We the People of The Federal Republic of Nigeria have to rise and disarm these hoodlums.”
