Ian Wright has laid into Nicolas Pepe following his “totally unprofessional” red card during Arsena’s draw with Leeds.
The Gunners managed to escape Elland Road with a share of the spoils on Sunday despite being reduced to 10 men just minutes into the second half.
Pepe became embroiled in an ongoing tussle with Leeds’ Ezgjan Alioski, which eventually ended with the Arsenal forward headbutting his opponent.
After a quick VAR review, Pepe was promptly given his marching orders by referee Anthony Taylor, with Wright later putting the boot in on the £72million signing.
“I’m not saying that it’s a proper full-on headbutt but you can’t do that to people in this day and age,” Wright told Premier League Productions.
“You can’t get into people’s faces like that.
“Alioski has gone down like he’s really got a proper headbutt but at the same time that’s just totally unprofessional and just poor from him.”
