Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has hailed Hakim Ziyech as a ‘complete player’ and believes the summer signing has given his team an ‘extra edge’.
The Blues manager was hugely impressed by the former Ajax playmaker’s contribution in his side’s 4-1 win over Sheffield United, where he provided two assists.
Goals from Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Timo Werner sealed the points for Lampard’s men, but it was Ziyech’s performance that caught the eye.
“He’s given us an extra edge and a different threat.
“He’s been out of football for a long time so I think it’s really impressive how he’s hit the ground running.
“He gives us a different style in terms of the left foot off the right side. It’s not something we’ve had much of in recent years.
“The ability to find the last pass or the last cross, to break teams down with a low block. We saw that today, we clearly saw that today.
“His personality has rubbed off. I keep talking about personality – it’s a huge thing in football. The signings that we’ve brought in, a lot of them are bringing a lot on and off the pitch. That’s important,” Lampard said.
