Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has found a camera at the scene of the shooting in Lekki area of Lagos.
Fashola discovered the hidden camera while on tour on Sunday of the Lekki toll gate where #EndSARS protesters demonstrated for 13 days before men in military uniform opened fire on them.
Picking up the device with a handkerchief, the minister of works handed it over to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu saying:
“I think this will help with the ongoing investigations into the shootings at the Lekki toll gate. It requires forensic analysis and could be used in the investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the shootings at the Toll Gate, I believe,” Fashola was quoted to have said.
The minister added that the device must have been planted by “some subversive elements”.
Fashola was governor of Lagos between 2007 and 2015.
The number of casualties at the Lekki shooting has remained contentious.
Meanwhile, a judicial commission of inquiry will on Monday begin investigating the Lekki shooting. The commission will probe the CCTV at the Lekki toll gate.
