His royal majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi has finally broken his silence on the ongoing protest to end the brutal and extra-judicial killings by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
According to the monarch, the voices of the people should not be ignored and the government needs to take urgent actions.
In his words;
“The ongoing protest, which is calling for reforms in our Police and making them more responsible to the citizens, calls for serious consideration on the part of the government. In our capacity, we continue to engage the authorities on why these voices should not be ignored and urgent actions taken on their demands. Police brutality must stop and citizens’ rights must be protected. I am confident that the government will no longer treat issues such as this with kid gloves and I want to appeal to all Nigerians, particularly those at the forefront of this protests to continue to peacefully engage the authorities and ensure they match words with action.”
