‘I mean no harm’- Bulama Mustapha reacts after his controversial cartoon on Hanan’s wedding sparks outrage

Daily Trust employee, Bulama Mustapha, has reacted after his controversial cartoon on the lavish wedding of President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan caused outrage among-st Nigerians.

The cartoon depicted the President’s wife holding pictures of the wedding on her hands and displaying them in the faces of Nigerians struggling to find their balance in life.

The cartoon drew inspiration from Aisha’s several posts on Instagram where she displayed pictures of Hanan’s wedding.

In reaction to the cartoon, Mrs Buhari said children of Nigerian leaders had the right to get married whether they were performing or not.

In an interview with BBC, Bulama stated that he meant no harm. He expressed surprise with the reaction the cartoon got and also appealed to those in power to help the poor masses.

He said;

“I mean no harm for the marriage of Hanan Buhari. I was only doing my work. In the cartoon, l was just trying to show the experience of Nigerians currently. This is the first time I will get reaction from such high place to my work. It shows that those in power actually see and listen to us. I hope we continue to inspire them to make life easier for the people.”

Health minister to replace striking Doctors with Corps members

Chief medical directors and managing directors of federal tertiary hospitals have been instructed by the Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire to replace Resident Doctors with National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.

Ehanire stated this in a release on Wednesday on the sidelines of the nationwide strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors.

The doctors are protesting against the non-payment of their COVID-19 hazard allowance and other demands.

Ehanire further directed that locum staffers should “be brought in when and where necessary to forestall services’ disruption when applicable and affordable”.
