Details of the discussion between new Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman, and the club’s captain, Lionel Messi, have emerged.
Koeman was hired by the Spanish giants after Quique Setien was fired following an 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League.
The club also ended the season without a trophy which may be part of why Messi has decided to end his time at the club.
However, before the 32-year Argentine handed a transfer request, he held talks with Koeman on his stay at the club.
Argentine news outlet Diario Olé claims Koeman replied Messi: “Your privileges in the squad are over, you have to do everything for the club.
“I’m going to be inflexible, you have to think about the team.”
