Former Barcelona captain, Charles Puyol, and Luis Suarez have applauded the decision of the club’s current captain, Lionel Messi, to leave the club.
Messi finally handed a transfer request to Barcelona which finally confirmed reports of his desire to leave the club he’s played for since he was a boy.
The decision followed the signing of Ronald Koeman as new manager which took effect after Barcelona lost 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League semi final.
Taking to Twitter, Puyol said: “Respect and admiration, Leo. You have my full support, my friend.”
Suarez who has been told by Koeman that his service is no longer needed at the club responded to Puyol’s tweet with two applause emoji.
Messi is currently being eyed by Paris St Germain and other too clubs in Europe.
