International sensational singer, Beyonce’s new video ‘Black is King’ has won the heart of many Africans especially Nigerians. Not only was the 38 year old able to impress many with her effortless display of the popular Nigerian dance known as ‘Zanku‘, she also caught the attention of many with her choice of costume which completely portrayed that of an African woman.
In the video, the sexy mother of three was seen wearing a cute pink gele just like every African/Nigerian mother would. After so many research, it was discovered that a Nigerian, Yoruba woman identified as Azeezat Abiola Amusat, was hired by the singer, to tie Gele for her and her cast in her recent video titled, Black Is King.
For those who do not know, 41 year old Azeezat Abiola Amusat is a Nigerian born Philosopher cum beautician who based in the United States of America. She is from Lagos State. She is the first out of 7 children of her parents. Education for her started from Police Children School in lkeja, Lagos State.
Thereafter, she moved to Lagos State Model College, Badore for her secondary school education before she gained an admission at the Lagos State University where she obtained her Bsc in Philosophy.
She had her compulsory one year National Youth Service Corp’s (NYSC) in Kaduna, she also served with Nigeria Defense Academy, Kaduna for a year. Shortly after her youth service, she was retained and she worked with the military as a Physiologist and Chancellor.
During her stay in Kaduna, the mother of two beautiful kids also won a Visa lottery to the United states of America in 2008. She worked as a Caregiver when she joined president Donald Trump’s country and she Iater went to Nursing School.
Subsequently, she got a job with Vitas Health Care and she was trained as an Hospice Nurse. By the grace of God, she has been with this company for 10yrs till date. Abiola is a very hardworking person and also love Fashion.In 2013, Azeezat had a friend that came from Nigeria to deliver her baby in America and she met her in a friend’s house and they got talking.
As a smart lady, during their chat, she realized that the lady had a store and school of fashion where she train people how to tie Gele and makeup in Nigeria.The lady taught her for two weeks and she had 2 jobs at of the time of learning but most time when she returned from work at midnight she quickly join the class. Amusat was so dedicated to learning it.
The major reason she went into the art of Gele, we were told, was because she was embarrassed at a party, when she saw a lady tieing the guest’s gele and she was so rude to people and lack manners.
The very passionate Azeezat then told herself that she can make money from this, by having good customer service, treating people nicely and be humbled. The rest is now history.To her credit, she has won 5 Awards from her Gele Tieing business. She has met and worked for a lot of Hollywood and Nollywood Celebrities.
Every February of the year, she attends Black History month and people always look forward to seeing her tieing her Gele.The Mayor of LA recognizes and also appreciate her work.She has exhibited her art work GELE with UCLA Museum and it was exhibited in New York Broadway.
Zeezat Abiola Amusat is so big in the business to the extent of getting recognition from Google.
