A cry for help from Ifeoma Blossom Joy Obiora, a 27-year-old mother who put out this and other statements that appeared to be a suicide note via her facebook page to draw attention to her plight at the hand of the husband Onyebuchi Obiorah, a Motor parts dealer at Nnewi. Both parties hail from Nnewi.
She is in danger, currently locked in with her abuser. We tried to reach out to people to check on her following her Facebook post.
We have been working our phones and when we thought help had come and four policemen sent on rescue to her.
The worst happened, that despite her plea the police officers started blaming her for crying out for help after narrating her ordeal and the physical and mental torture.
The husband assaulted her right while police officers were trying to gain entrance.
He was visibly angry and questioned her on why she invited police. The police officers only succeeded in blaming the victim for going public and leaving her with the suspect to her fate this night.
We are calling on the Anambra Police Commissioner, please send professional officers, preferably in the company of females police to rescue her now. Her safety is not guaranteed in that house and we do not want to lose her.
Ifeoma born in 1993 was married off at the age of 15 and now a mother of four, suffering multiple abuse and reproductive health challenges- Vesico Vagina Fistulae (VVF). She is now an incontinent because of series of forced sex nothing short of marital rape by the said husband. She has been forced seven times to have abortions. Nigerians should join force to ensure that this young lady is rescued and saved from domestic violence. She has endured torture, inhuman, cruel, degrading treatment and punishment meted out by her spouse.
Founding Director of WACOL/Tamar SARC Professor Joy Ezeilo @NgoziEzeilo has spoken to her and we are working with our partners, including NHRC, NAPTIP and some of Ifeoma’s classmates to get help.
Let’s join forces until she’s rescued.
