Barcelona president, Josep Bartomeu has said that Lionel Messi will remain at the club despite talks of an exit.
Messi is said to have ended contract renewal talks with the Catalan Giants following recent poor performance displayed by the club.
He’s said to be also angry about reports linking him to the sack of former manager, Ernesto Valverde.
However, after the 4-1 win against Villareal, Bartomeu told Movistar that the Argentine will remain with the club and will end his career there.
‘Messi has said he will end his working and footballing life at Barca,’ Bartomeu said after his side beat Villarreal 4-1 on Sunday, July 5.
‘I’m not going to explain the details because we are focused on the competition and we are negotiating with many players but Messi has explained to us that he wants to stay and so we’re going to enjoy him for much longer.’
