Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has won the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State.
Ize-Iyamu was declared the winner of the primaries by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State who chaired the Edo State APC Primary Election Committee.
Results from 18 local governments showed that Ize-Iyamu got 27,838 votes followed by his closest rival, Dr Pius Odubu, who got 3,776 votes. Coming in third is Mr Osaro Obaze who polled 2,751 votes.
The governorship election in the state has been later for September 19 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Ize-Iyamu will be gearing to face Governor Godwin Obaseki who is expected to pick the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
