So we got to watch the much talked about Omoni Oboli’s movie, Love Is War on Netflix ours ago after it arrived the platform and oh boy, it was Aca-awesome!
We didn’t want it to end and we bet you wouldn’t too.
Love is war is an intense drama about a husband and wife battling for governorship of Ondo State. A husband and wife both win the nominations as the gubernatorial candidates of two major parties. Omoni Oboli directs and stars with RMD in this comedy drama about ambition and the need to serve.
From the beginning of the movie, we were taken into the reality of the pressures of politics, most especially being a female and particularly, facing your husband to contest for a position.
Every scene was believable.
It truly shows what happens in the political terrain, especially in Nigeria.
All the casts from Omoni Oboli, to Richard Mofe Damijo, Jide Kosoko, Akin Lewis, Bimbo Manuel Toke Makinwa, Shaffy Bello, Femi Branch, Uzo Osimkpa, Yomi Black, Damilare Kuku and more brought in their A-game.
We particularly loved the chemistry between Omoni and RMD…such a beautiful on screen couple! Their energy was a big match and together they created a balance that was very fun to watch.
And then the customes especially that of Omoni and RMD were eye catching….so fine that the styles can be compiled into a fashion lookbook.
From the design of the campaign podiums, offices, campaign T-shirts, banners, fliers, uniforms and the set up, it is Nigerian election galore.
Apart from the costumes, cinematography tells a story between the lines with the right shots, frames and lighting. The camera angles are not showing off and distracting, rather they enhance the already-good storytelling.
Even the Dialogues…oh lord!
You should really check it out Now on Netflix!
Directed by Omoni Oboli and produced by Inkblot.
