The Federal Government has said the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation have agreed to shoulder the cost of accommodation and feeding of evacuees during their 14-day compulsory quarantine.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, made this known on Monday during the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. He said the gesture was made possible by the co-operation of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, and the NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari.
Recall that few days ago, the government informed Nigerians living abroad who have showed interest to be evacuated home due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, to pay for their two-week quarantine on arrival.
This was made known after a copy of the letter was sent to Nigerians residing in the State of Kuwait by the Embassy of Nigeria on May 13, 2020. The letter says the evacuees will pay N297,600 for their quarantine in Nigeria apart from the airfares.
