Tears as Nigerian footballer, Martins dies after colliding with another footballer on the pitch

This is indeed a Black Sunday for Nigerian football team, Nassarawa United after one of their players died this evening.

It was reported that Chieme Martins died after colliding with another footballer on the pitch.

According to the information let out by Twitter user, identified as @Buchi_Laba, he wrote,Β  “SAD DAY 😞😭!!Β  – Chieme Martins of Nassarawa United has died after a collision with a Katsina Utd player earlier today in the NPFL.Β – Nassarawa United Players Crying 😭!Β – Player was rushed to the hospital and died there.Β No Medical Attention at the Stadium!!Β

Other Nigerians have also poured out their condolences via same social media platform.

“It’s clear most jobs in Nigeria are without any form of emergency mechanism in place. We are all just living and doing our jobs by grace. It’s painful and sad” wrote an embittered Nigerian.

“NPFL is not a league, if not for the players. That league should be canceled,” another added.
