Real Madrid defender, Sergio Ramos has hit back at his compatriot at Barcelona, Gerard Pique, who described his side as the worst he has ever faced in an El Classico.
Thus was after Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-0 with goals from Vinicius Junior and Mariano Diaz to climb the top of the table on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, Pique expressed surprised at how the host was able to win the day despite how poorly composed they were.
Pique said: “Real Madrid in the first half was the worst Madrid I’ve faced at the Bernabeu.
“We missed a good chance to hurt Real MadridReal Madrid.
“We played better than them in the second half, though, we lost balls, and they grew in confidence.”
However, Ramos stated that he would rather play using the same tactics which made Pique render their team bad.
“Everyone’s opinion is respectable,” Ramos told reporters as quoted by Spanish publication AS.
“I signed up to win all Clasicos by making a first-half as bad as he says.
“The approach was different. In the first half, we left the ball, and in the second we decided to go.
“They were not so fresh, and we started to generate chances.”
