The Bayelsa State governor-elect, Senator Douoye Diri has made his first speech after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Diri and his deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjiakpo were both on the ground to receive the certificate which was presented to them by INEC Commissioner in charge of Legal Affairs, May Agbamu-Uche Mbu.
“I will never forget the judiciary. It is the last hope of the common man. With what happened, God has healed our State, Bayelsa. Within this time, God has taken us through a journey of reconciliation and forgiveness,” Diri said.
Diri was announced the winner of the Bayelsa gubernatorial election by the Supreme Court which sacked David Lyon as governor-elect.
