Spanish La Liga Giants, Barcelona have announced Quique Setien as the new manager to run the club till June 2022.
This puts to bed rumors that the club was to announce former player and Al Saad manager, Xavi Hernandez, as its new manager.
61-year old Setien got appointed following the sack of Ernesto Valverde who became the first manager to be sacked by the club mid-season since Louis Van Gaal in January 2003.
Valverde’s sack came on the hills of a 3-2 Super Cup semi-final loss to Atletico Madrid in Saudi Arabia. Rivals Real Madrid went on to lift the trophy on Sunday via penalties.
