An alleged copy of the WASSCE result of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, has surfaced online and it shows he didn’t event get up to a credit in Arabic.
The result was shared on Twitter in reaction to a quote attributed to the CJN which sees him calling for an amendment to the consititution to allow for Sharia Law.
He said: “As we all know, there are sections of the constitution that allow the implementation of Shari’a personal law and apart from that, we cannot do more. However, we have the number to emend the constitution to suit our own position as Muslims.”
The certificate was shared online by Farooq Kperogi who wrote:
“Justice Tanko Muhammad, the illegally appointed CJN, was reported to have said that Sharia Law should be taught in Arabic in our universities. But the man himself didn’t even get a credit in Arabic in his WASC but went ahead to study Sharia Law. He also had no credit in English.
Isn’t the content of the course more important than the language in which it is taught? How many pple in Nigeria get credit in Arabic anyway? In any case, English is Nigeria’s official language. Well, what do you expect from a lawyer who doesn’t know what a “technicality” means?”
