The Supreme Court has given reasons why it dismissed the petition by Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in the last election.
According to the court, Buhari was qualified to contest because no law requires a candidate to submit his academic certificates before contesting.
The court added that what is required as stated in the constitution is a secondary school level of education before one can participate in a presidential election.
It added that INEC’s requirements were satisfied by Buhari who not only had a secondary certificate but also rose to the rank of Major General in the Army.
