Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has ruled out the possible of involving home based players in his squad.
According to the German tactician, foreign based players have a high quality at the moment.
Rohr speaking to reporters post-Benin vitory, said; ”This is not the moment to speak about my contract, let us speak about the match, we have our project, let us speak about our team, we have been together for three years, Musa was here.
”The team is progressing and we now have young boys who are coming in. I know that you want more and more home-based players but the quality we have abroad is higher for the moment than in the home-based league (Nigeria Professional Football League).
”But we took somebody again to give him a chance, Ifeanyi from Enyimba, and we will all the time give the chance to the players who deserve”.
Rohr disclosed this in reaction to a statement made by NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, who stated that a clause would have to be included in his contract before it is renewed.
According to Pinnick, this clause will see the involvement of more of home based players in the Super Eagles squad.
