Planned parenthood has reacted to claims by rapper T.I that he takes his daughter to doctors to ensure her virginity is still intact.
In a chat with Nazanin Mandi and Nadia Moham, the 39-year-old rapper said: “I think that most kids in hindsight, looking back, they always thank their parents for not allowing them to damage themselves as much as they could have.
Deyjah’s 18, just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynaecologist to check her hymen. READ MORE
Reacting to the rapper’s statement, Planned Parenthood explained what virginity is and how “it has absolutely nothing to do with your hymen.
They wrote: “Idk who needs to hear this but virginity is a made-up social construct, and it has absolutely nothing to do with your hymen.”
They added: “A virgin is someone who’s never had sex. But “sex” means different things to different people, so “virginity” does too. Many don’t care what it means or think it matters. Whatever you believe, the fact is you can’t tell if someone’s had sex by checking their hymen.”
