Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has urged Nigerians to stop focusing on the 2023 presidency and hold President Buhari and the APC accountable for promises made in 2015.
Bode George who spoke in a chat with Daily Independent stated that the focus should be on solutions to unemployment, hunger, insecurity, not 2023 presidency.
“What I will say is that 2023 is still a long journey from now. We must be extremely careful. Let us enjoy democracy for now. Usually, in civilised countries, they don’t start discussing anything about the election until a year before that election”.
“We all know that there is hunger in the land, including President Muhammadu Buhari. Let us make sure that we are happy first before we start talking about 2023. 24 hours is long in politics. Who knows who will still be alive in 2023?”
“Let us solve the problems we have now. There is massive unemployment in the land and unimaginable pains. We should talk so that the government can address these challenges, not distracting ourselves about 2023”
“The president has not even spent a year in office for his second term and people are already talking about 2023. What manner of people are we?”
