A bill which will see to the setting up of an agency to check hate speech has been introduce to the upper chambers of the National Assembly.
The bill introduced by Senate spokesman, Senator Abdullahi Sabi, has passed its first reading.
Recall that the Protection from internet falsehood and manipulations Bill 2019 had its first reading at the Senate last week.
The bill is aimed at preventing the spread and propagation of fake news on social media and digital platforms.
The bill is reminiscent of a social media bill which failed to pass due to widespread criticisms from Nigerians who claim it will gag citizens and their freedom of expression.
