In what appears to be a reaction to the dismissed rape case filed by Busola Dakolo against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, Pastor Laurie Idahosa has advised people against rushing towards taking a stance.
In a social media post, Laurie Idahosa stated that before one decides to take a stance on an issue, one must ensure that all the facts are known.
She wrote:
”In today’s social media society, there’s a huge amount of pressure to jump onto moving bandwagons of people’s grievances, celebrations, injustices, testimonies, stories and so on. We can become emotionally driven because of someone’s opinion or journey they share and we passionately react by sharing our alliances, anger or joy with the entire world through posts.
Think before you post.
Gather data. Make sure that you accurately understand the situation, issues or causes you want to align with. We used to tell our children to think before they speak. In today’s society, we need to tell them and ourselves to “think before we post.”
One too many lives have been permanently damaged by the frenzy of excitement over a story or a cause.
Before you make a public stand for something or someone, make sure you know all the facts. Wisdom and patience go hand in hand”.
