The South African High Commission to Nigeria has been shut down over fears of reprisal attacks.
This was confirmed by acting High Commissioner, Ambassador Bobby Moroe, who spoke to newsmen on Thursday.
Speaking, he said all consulate activities have been suspended until situations become calm.
He also revealed that the attacks on South African companies in Nigerian informed the decision to shut down the South African High Commission.
Moroe added, “I directed that the Mission should be closed until the situation improves. We heard that South Africans were being pulled out of vehicles and attacked. We feel unsafe and that is why I directed that the mission should close down until further notice.”
This is coming after South Africa owned company, MTN, announced closure of all its stores in Nigeria.
